Happy Nappy...

My hippy name...

I just took the incredibly accurate "What is Your Hippy Name" quiz on Facebook. And the results are in...

FREEDOM DAISY SUNSHINE

I knew 3 sisters that went to my high school and their names were Freedom, Autumn, and Rainbow.
I'm rather fond of odd/unique names, so this pleased me. :)

Hello Mary Lou...

YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO.

When I first pressed play, I was like, "who are those hot porn star girls??". But I was sadly mistaken. Apparently those are Ricky Nelson's SONS. He must be so proud. I think they might have some problems if they ever go to prison...

Love Songs you Love to Hate...

So, we're doing this extremely awesome Vday show next month. I hired two hilarious souls, Dave & Rachel Buckman of The Frank Mills to come in and host some audience-participation segments during the evening, like The Newlywed Game. :)

NOW I NEED YOUR HELP! We were trying to decide what type of songs we want to do, then Carl came up with the great idea to have a "Love Songs you Love to Hate" theme. Will you give me your suggestions?? What songs do you bash when you're around friends, yet pump the volume for when you're alone in your car?? Music you only enjoy because it's covered in cheese, but that cheese is sooo creamy and delicious that you don't worry about how you look while you take it all in.

Email me or leave a comment here, por favor! I'll post our set list once we narrow it down. Thx!!

Oh and let me know if you can make it to the show!! Yow!!

The tale of gelatin & rennet...

Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. We found these organic, vegetarian gummy bears at the store the other day (in the bulk section). They are so good!! Much better than the regular ones. I mean it. I wouldn't lie.

You might wonder why some gummy bears aren't vegetarian. It's because they generally contain gelatin. And how badly would you like to know what gelatin is????

Gelatin is a gelling agent and is common in foods like yogurt, marshmallows, sour cream, frosted cereals, pill capsules, etc. Sometimes it's made from melted horse hooves, but more commonly now, it's extracted from the bones, connective tissues, organs, and intestines of animals.

Then manufacturers give it a painless name like "gelatin" and nobody thinks twice.

And while I'm on the topic, let's discuss "rennet". Rennet is a common ingredient in almost all cheeses. It can only come from the bellies of baby cows. They butcher calves for veal, then the rennet comes from the mucos membranes in the stomach chambers.

Nasty noodles. Now please go check the ingredients of the groceries in your fridge. :)

Love,
~Beth

Moooovies...

We've seen quite a few movies lately for some reason! It seems like we went like 2 years without seeing a film and then caught a bunch in the last couple of months. The cool part is that I usually leave the theater with a song idea or two. Although, I don't recall Tropic Thunder giving me the urge to write...

And since I'm sure you're DYING to know how I'd rate some of these flicks, I will oblige:

Seven Pounds
: A!
Milk: B+
Burn After Reading: A!
Tropic Thunder: C+
Religulous: A!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: C+
Wall-E: B

November...

I just read that November is National Blog Posting Month and I've decided to participate. That means at least one blog post every single day this month. Yow! I'm probably gonna have to post a bunch of stupid crap, but I'm sure that's one of the reasons you read my musings anyway.

I'm off!!!

Sir Carl E. Miner...

I was reading about Winston Churchill earlier and Carl leaned over and happened to notice that Churchill's father was named "Lord Randolph Henry Spencer Churchill". This made him wonder how people get those fancy titles.

And we found the answer!

If you just visit this website, you can choose from many illustrious titles, such as Count, Baron, Duke, etc., for only $197!!!

And here are some of the benefits of a "life of privilege":

  • Credit cards emblazoned with "Lord (or Lady) Smith"
  • All identification confirming the new royal title.
  • Doors opening professionally and socially.
  • There is no faster way to climb the social ladder.
  • A unique and thoughtful gift which can pay for itself.
  • A fantastic icebreaker which gains instant respect and credibility
  • Unlocking doors which were previously unknown

I don't know about you, but I certainly look forward to climbing the social ladder with my new title.

Love,
Duchess Elisabeth J. Miner

New Unauthorized Beth Biography!!

Not really. I wrote it myself. It's not easy to write stuff about yourself, but I realized that there was no bio information on any of my multitude of websites. Here we go...

I consider myself one of the lucky ones...I discovered something I'm completely passionate about at a young age. And that's all any of us really need to be happy...something to be excited about!

But I don't know if I found it or it found me. My maiden name was Singer, I once lived on Speaker Rd, and I was making up songs and singing solos in Church by the time I was 5. I really feel like God has been guiding me into this since I was a little girl. He not only gave me a voice, but also the choice to use it.

I grew up in several little towns in Oregon. Recorded my first demo when I was barely 14, started performing with bands that same year, met my amazing Husband when I was 15 (he played guitar on my 1st CD & was the 1999 National Flatpicking Champion), I sang in front of over 20,000 people by the time I was 16, made an album in Nashville when I was 17, opened for major acts before I was 18, and was performing 6 nights a week when my 19th Birthday rolled around.

I won over a dozen "Indie Artist" awards during my teen years, but when it was time for my 20's, this thing called "real life" took over. I moved out on my own for the first time, started working a day job, married my sweetheart, bought a house, and found that music still owns me...

So we packed up our little cars (Tucker & Chloe) and headed East to Austin, Texas - the "Live Music Capital of the World". We had our condo-buying experience chronicled on an episode of HGTV's House Hunters and quickly settled into our lovely new life. We now own an Advertising/Marketing/Design Agency in Downtown Austin and have been so blessed to find friends that love life as much as we do!

Songwriting is currently my biggest thrill. My ambition is to write for other artists and for special projects. I'm about to release my new album "Minutes With You" in 2008, and one of the most personal songs we've recorded pretty much sums up my emotional state...I Am From Hopeful.
